At Rezeca, we believe in keeping our customers informed about important market changes — especially when it relates to your solar investment.
We’d like to provide an update on the current status of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) linked to residential solar systems.
Over the past few years, RECs — particularly those generated by residential-scale solar systems — have gained value as more organisations pursued sustainability goals. However, since late 2024, we’ve observed a significant softening in the REC market, both globally and regionally.
This is due to several factors, including:
A slowdown in corporate demand for small-scale RECs
An oversupply of RECs in the market
The administrative complexity of aggregating and managing residential RECs
As a result, it has become increasingly difficult to find traders or platforms willing to take in residential RECs at commercially meaningful prices.
We’ve been actively submitting your RECs for bids and working with our trading partners to explore opportunities. However, we have not been successful in monetising residential RECs in the current market environment.
We will continue monitoring the market and, if a buyer is found, we will proceed to sell the RECs and credit you based on the prevailing market price at the time of sale.
If you are comfortable with this arrangement, you do not need to take any action — we will retain and manage your RECs on your behalf.
However, if you wish to:
Terminate your REC contract with us, or
Transfer your RECs to another platform or trader of your choice,
